Amal Toronto Grand Opening

The INK Entertainment team is humbled to announce the opening of Amal, a modern Lebanese cuisine restaurant located at 131 Bloor Street West in Toronto. Meaning hope, Amal pays homage to the culture, food and people of Lebanon.

With Beirut-born executive chef Rony Ghaleb at the helm, Amal portrays the cultural and culinary practices of Lebanon. A cuisine influenced by the different civilizations that held power in the region, the menu includes elevated Lebanese dips, cold and hot mezze, skewers, platters, carne and the customary plat du jour, along with a selection of the Middle East’s Arak spirit.

“As a Lebanese-Canadian, I take great pride in offering an authentic dining experience at Amal,” says Charles Khabouth, CEO, INK Entertainment. “My wish is that we tribute the people of Lebanon in a positive way and continue to bring awareness to the amazing yet challenged country, especially during this time of need. The Lebanese are such passionate and hospitable people, with deep love for family and celebrating life together. We plan to honour this way of living with Amal in Toronto, and soon with our second location in Coconut Grove, Miami.”

In response to the recent tragedy in Beirut, Khabouth along with other prominent Lebanese-Canadian business leaders have formed the Lebanese Canadian Coalition (LCC) – with the single goal of supporting the relief efforts to re-build Beirut. The LCC has committed to fundraise $2.5 million dollars, with all proceeds donated to the Humanitarian Coalition and the Canadian Red Cross, and will be used specifically for relief efforts in Beirut.

Amal has already been featured in and received rave reviews by CBC, NewsTalk 1010 and Toronto Star.

Covid-19 Precautions

Our commitment to you

We are very eager to reopen and serve you as valued guests. We want to assure you that health, safety and warm hospitality remains our top priority at all INK Entertainment venues. While we navigate the new normal, new measures and protocols will be implemented at our venue.

Listed below are a few of the measures we have implemented to date:

  • All staff will be trained on and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Frequent hand washing remains crucial and compulsory.
  • Continued vigilance in our sanitization efforts, including hourly cleaning of commonly touched venue surfaces, workspaces, tables, door handles and phones will occur daily.
  • Furniture and surfaces that guests come in contact with, such as tables, chairs, benches and menus, will be disinfected after each use.
  • Increased antibacterial soaps will be readily available in our restrooms and sanitizing dispensers will be installed across our restaurant for staff and customers.
  • Tables will be spaced a minimum of six feet apart with a maximum of six guests per table, as per Toronto Public Health.
  • If anyone is unwell, they will not have to come to work or will be asked to go home and recover. Transparency between staff and management regarding well-being is paramount.
  • We are actively monitoring updates from all levels of government and health officials and will adjust our protocols as necessary and recommended.

We thank you, dear guests, for your continued support in this uncertain time. We look forward to welcoming you back.

Mr. Brainwash Limited Edition Prints in support of Street Haven

Art has the ability to bring joy in the most challenging times.

As the world continues the fight against COVID-19, it is more important than ever to look for the positives and to give back when possible. INK Entertainment’s Taglialatella Galleries is thrilled to be partnering with legendary pop-artist, Mr. Brainwash, on a limited edition We Love Canada print.

INK Cares supporting our front line workers

We extend our thanks to the frontline workers for all they have done during the COVID-19 pandemic. More than anyone could have imagined, their lives have been turned upside down as they put their health at risk to help us. As part of an INK Cares initiative and to express our sincere gratitude, each week our kitchen staff at the Bisha Hotel are preparing a selection of sweet and savoury food donations for the incredible teams at Toronto hospitals. While remaining inside is the greatest way to support healthcare workers and at-risk individuals, we hope to provide a moment of relief and offer this as a token of our appreciation during these trying times. We can’t thank you enough.

Do you know a heroic team of frontline workers helping combat COVID-19? Email us at pr@inkentertainment.com to request a complimentary food donation. We will do our best to accommodate all inquiries.

An important message from INK Entertainment

These are incredibly difficult and unprecedented times. Each day we come to work, we look forward to providing our guests with memorable experiences and warm service. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have made the difficult decision to close all of our Canadian venues effective immediately.

As the world navigates the coronavirus, we extend our thanks to local officials and healthcare professionals for all they are doing. We offer our deepest gratitude to our valued guests and local community for their unwavering support over the years and their understanding of this decision during an incredibly difficult time.

The situation is fluid. We are closely monitoring the news, recommendations from the government and health experts, and the development of the virus. We want to do our part to help stop the spread of COVID-19 and will remain closed until further notice. We look forward to welcoming you back as a valued guest as soon as we can.

We wish you and your family health and wellness.

Sincerely,

Charles Khabouth, CEO, INK Entertainment

Charles Khabouth pays tribute to Lebanese roots with new restaurant Amal

For the first time in Charles Khabouth’s 30+year career, with over 20 hospitality venues in operation and five more in the works, the award-winning restaurateur and Beirut-born entrepreneur will pay tribute to his Lebanese roots with the opening of Amal, a modern Lebanese cuisine restaurant, this spring in Toronto.

Designed by the award-winning design firm and long-time partner Studio Munge, Amal will completely reinvent the Bloor Street space formerly occupied by the hospitality powerhouse’s La Société. Offering an undeniable modern charm, the look and feel of the venue is inspired by traditional Lebanese architecture and design.

“I have wanted to open a Lebanese restaurant for many years,” says Charles Khabouth, CEO, INK Entertainment. “As a native of Lebanon, ensuring authenticity was paramount. Last year, members of the INK team and I travelled there to curate the best it has to offer and bring to Amal. We have one of the best executive chefs from Beirut, we worked with one of the Middle East’s biggest design firms to create the brand, and we handpicked and imported the restaurant’s décor and dishware. I believe this level of authenticity will elevate our city’s dining scene to new heights.”

Executive Chef Rony Ghaleb joins the INK Entertainment team with more than 25 years of progressive experience as a chef at some of the most renowned hospitality venues in Lebanon. Chef Ghaleb’s menu will feature contemporary versions of traditional shared plates. Amal will be open for lunch and dinner daily, with brunch served on Saturdays and Sundays.

The second location in Coconut Grove, Miami is scheduled to open later this year.

Sofia opens its wine cellar for three-part dinner series

Starting January 29th, Sofia Restaurant & Bar will be opening its wine cellar for a three-part dinner series hosted by executive chef Rob LeClair and sommelier Christina Brown. Each dinner will be happening on the last Wednesday of January, February and March.

The first dinner explores Emilia-Romagna; one of Italy’s oldest and most prolific wine regions. Extending Italy’s northern peninsula, the region is considered the heart of Italian cooking, utilizing simple and quality ingredients.

“We have created a five-course tasting menu that provides a true taste of the region’s rich gastronomy,” says executive chef Rob LeClair. “The depth of flavours paired with varietals from Trebbiano and Sangiovese will make for an immersive and authentic dining experience we cannot wait to share with guests.”

The first dinner on January 29th will begin with a welcome cocktail by master mixologist Nishan Nepulangoda, followed by a single-seating dinner. The next two dinners for the series are scheduled for Wednesday, February 26th and Wednesday March 25th, 2020.
